Dole® Sunshine knows it’s not enough to just offer nutritious foods. We must be part of the changing mindset that enables tangible results and solutions for improved nutrition knowledge and understanding.
We have partnered with select Boys & Girls Club locations across the country to support the kids and families that the organization has been serving for over 150 years.
The Sunshine for All® Cities program is lifting up families with hands-on culinary classes, nutrition education, the creation of learning gardens and urban orchards, and increased access to affordable healthy foods.
Our Purpose
Since our humble beginnings we have strived to create a more equitable world where everyone – irrespective of their age, race, income, location, or gender – has the right to nutrition that comes from the goodness of the earth nurtured by the sun.
Our Promises
We are doubling down on our mission to do business differently and joining forces with strategic partners in order to work towards the Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations to better our world today and for future generations to come. Program
The creation of the Sunshine for All® Cities program is intended to improve the health and wellness of families across the country with the establishment of a Sunshine City in each state and the installation of GOOD STUFF Kiosks in all the Boys & Girls Club locations. Ultimately we hope to build a consortium of like minded companies to launch GOOD STUFF Grocery Stores in the communities where they are needed most.
Sunshine for All® Kids Cooking Camp
Educating kids about the foods they eat and teaching them how to prepare healthy meals for themselves and their families is helping to improve the overall health of the communities we are serving. Kids enrolled in the program learn basic cooking skills, healthy recipe preparation, and smart grocery shopping and meal planning tips.
Sunshine
Urban Orchards
As the Sunshine Orchards take root they will provide a unique opportunity for the Boys and Girls Clubs Club Kids to operate their own roadside Sunshine Fruit Stand. Club Kids will help to nurture the fruit growing in the orchards, and will design the fruit stand structure, as well as stock, sell and package each order all while learning how to run and promote a business.
Good Stuff Kiosks, Grocery Stores and Farmers Markets
The Dole® Sunshine Company’s program includes: 1) immediate remedies to address the lack of access to healthy food and nutrition education, and 2) the long term solutions needed to break the cycle of generational poverty and poor health in underserved communities across the country.
Creating
Sunshine Together
Since 1860 the Boys & Girls Clubs of America has enabled young people most in need to achieve great futures as productive, caring, responsible citizens. Today, 4,800 Clubs serve nearly 3 million young people through Club membership and community outreach.
Clubs are located in cities, towns, public housing and on Native lands throughout the country, and serve military families in BGCA-affiliated Youth Centers on U.S. military installations worldwide.
